Frequently Asked Questions

Where do you get your "steak meat" and "cheese whiz'?

We make our seitan "steak meat" in-house. It is 100% made from scratch and contains only 5 ingredients. The base is made from whole grain, protein flour and seasonings. Our signature Philly cheesesteak contains 30 plus grams of protein. It is low in carbs, fat and zero cholesterol.

Our "cheese whiz" is a family recipe passed down from my Father. He created this recipe in the 90's ever since he became vegan. The base is made from vegetables and it is nut-free! It is also low in carbs, fat and zero cholesterol.

Do you offer any gluten-free options?

Yes we do! We have Jackfruit Toona Platter, Nacho Chips with Cheese and Kale Caesar Salads. For desserts we have more options. Please come in and see what's available.

Ours frostings, cake decorations and anything that has color is made with natural ingredients such as spiralina, turmeric and dragon fruit powder.

What do you mean by "clean" comfort food?

We do not care to ingest nasty chemicals, dye's, preservatives and gmo's that are found in many processed foods. Our mission is creating delicious tasting "comfort food" while keeping the ingredients free from harmful substances. Therefore it is "clean" :)

Where did you get the idea for vegan cheesesteaks?

We were born and raised in the suburbs of Phila.  We honor and respect our roots and those roots love food. We grew up in the steak and hoagie business as Dina's grandfather, Joe Sr., owned a family business called, Joe's Snack Bar, for over 20 years. He learned his craft from the famous Jim's Steaks back in the 1960's.  It was only a matter of time for a cruelty-free, plant based Philly cheesesteak to emerge from the Lauro genes.

What sets you apart from other vegan comfort food?

We like to first say that we love all vegan businesses. We all have the same goal(s) in mind, which is reducing animal cruelty and eating healthier by creating plant based alternatives for our communities.

At Dina's, it is important to us to have control over our ingredients and their flavor. We do not care for harmful additives, preservatives or dyes. That is why we choose to make the majority of our menu in-house, from scratch. Our Seitan Steak and Cheese Whiz is made 100% in house at Dina's. We use simple, fresh ingredients in our recipes that you can taste. Our foods are not overly salty or too sweet. They are just right! It's an art to us, and while its traditional comfort food, we are making a healthier version.

Did you have an official training for your business?

In 2010, Dina decided to take the leap towards her passion for healthy foods and enrolled in Culinary School at the renowned Natural Gourmet Institute in Manhattan. After completing a year of rigorous training, she proudly graduated and eagerly sought to gain practical experience.

During her journey to explore the world of healthy living, Dina landed an internship at the prestigious Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach. It was there that she was introduced to the remarkable benefits of a Raw Food Lifestyle. The experience left a profound impact on her, and she fell in love with this wholesome approach to nutrition.

Fueling her enthusiasm further, Dina decided to enhance her expertise by enrolling in the comprehensive 9-week Health Educator course at the Hippocrates Health Institute. This intensive program provided her with a deeper understanding of the connection between food and overall well-being.

Now, Dina has emerged as a well-rounded culinary expert, adept in Vegan Cuisine and skilled in incorporating both raw and cooked elements into her creative food masterpieces. Her dedication to promoting healthy eating habits has become the driving force behind her culinary creations.
